Shortly before her passing, Artist Paula Riff created a retrospective monograph of her remarkable camera-less constructions. Using cyanotype and gum bichromate, she reimagined the universe, uniquely her own, moving beyond the visual references of things we are familiar with. Her constructions sit in a space of the past and the future, rooted in historical alternative processes, but with a result that is modern and removed from traditional paths. Her desire to experiment, without the restraints of time, allowed her to pay attention to small details and improvise with the freedom of not knowing the end result.
